ROLE: UX Copywriter and UX Designer. I created the design in Figma and worked on the content strategy, IA, UI, and UX copywriting.

PROJECT: My mentor at Oracle gave me this awesome stretch assignment to reimagine Booking.com, which is a really overwhelming website upon first glance. Users likely visit Booking.com to book a vacation and may need another vacation from the stress of navigating this complicated website.

I updated Booking.com’s IA and UI by simplifying the navigation bar and content options to make the site experience more intuitive for the user. I redesigned the navigation bar with updated page logos and a color outline around the logo and underneath the page to denote where the user is within the site (not currently a function available on Booking.com).

I also created a consolidated content user experience where the site automatically updates based on the preferences inputted by the user, with the option of allowing the user to clear any previous preferences (also not currently a function available on Booking.com). This way, it’s easy for users to change their minds and for the content recommendations to update accordingly.

Initially, I created a 10 question quiz for visitors to generate a vacation itinerary, but I later evolved that to become a different, stealth AI option for users to interact with, which I named “Palm Tree.” Eventually, I came to the conclusion that Palm Tree AI can create a personalized, nuanced vacation itinerary much faster than a static quiz, and can seamlessly update the itinerary based on user feedback to easily plan their customized vacation.
